Fellow Rotarians and friends of Rotary, our End Polio Now campaign - Take A Bite to End Polio was launched yesterday at the Dindings Interact Club Installation at Bei King Hotel and Restaurant here in Sitiawan. It was a successful launch with a End Polio presentation done by PE Dr. Geetha. We had a slight hiccup with the Facebook live stream however we have also recorded the presentation and it will be soon updated on our facebook page.
Our program continued with a Polio awareness Cycling event done by the United Cyclists of Manjung . The ride was flagged off early this morning at 7am from Bei King Restaurant and it was attended by our Rotarians . AG Danny had joined the cyclists and rode to the first stop of the ride at Kampung Baru. There we grouped together to take pictures and highlight our campaign.
The ride proceeded to the last stop of the awareness campaign to Mc Donalds near Aeon. There we met members from Komuniti Taman Desa Maju where our PE. Dr. Geetha had given a presentation of our Campaign and Polio awareness in Bahasa Malaysia.
The campaign has been a success as we were able to achieve our goal of creating awareness and also started collecting funds for the Polio Fund. Dindings Interact Club have already started contributing towards the fund last night by taking 200 chocolate sticks of which 70 were sold last night. They will be selling the rest in their school on the 24th of October which is World Polio Day. Ayer Tawar Interact Club had also taken 100 chocolate sticks to sell on the 24th as well. Our other interact clubs will start the chocolate sales next week after their exams. The United Cyclist of Manjung had also contributed RM200 towards the fund. It has been a good start to the Polio Fund and we believe we will achieve more in time to come.
I like to thank DG Manohur Kurup and all Rotarians for your support towards the project.Thanks especially to PE. Dr. Geetha who came up with the idea of selling the chocolates sticks to collect funds towards the Polio Fund, our Service Chair PAG Frankie who supported this event from the very start and also his Ann Kim Bee who came up with our Campaign Punch Line - Take A Bite To End Polio and for attending the launch of the Awareness Ride this morning. Thank you to AG Danny for your participation in the cycling awareness ride, PP Soo Swee Lim and Rotarian Lee Wei Boon who came with their bicycles for the launch of the Awareness Ride. Thank you PP Sazali Yaman and PP Thong Sheng Bee for coming early this morning in support of our Club project. Thank you United Cyclists of Manjung especially Dr. Alfred Goh Yong Soon and Dr. Diong Mee Nee for making this possible and for your participation in helping us create an awareness towards our Campaign. Together we have all worked towards Making A Difference.
