THE PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS OF GANESH KANDIAH THE 57th PRESIDENT OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF SITIAWAN ON THE 5th of AUGUST 2017
Peace, Mercy and Blessings Be Upon You All Guest of Honour: Mr.Ting Tai Fook the special officer to the Minister of Finance, Distinguished Guests, Fellow Rotarians and Friends of Rotary, Thank you all for taking the time and coming from near and far to celebrate this night with us. I would also like to thank the Organising Chairperson for tonight's installation, my wife Rotarian Dr. Geetha and her committe especially Past Presidents Tien Cher Hong and Har Ming Ee for working tirelessly in the true spirit of Rotary to ensure that tonight's installation runs smoothly. Fellow Rotarians and friends of Rotary. THE ROTARY CLUB OF SITIAWAN is one of the top ten out of 82 clubs in District 3300. Since its inception in 1961 it's members have been selfless in their dedication and commitment to the service of our community. Tonight we install the new Board of Directors who have been given the privilege of leading the Rotary Club of Sitiawan in our club's endeavour to Making a Difference for our community. I am humbled by the belief placed in me to spearhead and to lead the Rotary Club of Sitiawan through 2017/2018. To my BOD and fellow Rotarians, I believe that when we are asked to serve on committees, we must look at our involvement in the committees as being a vital part in our commitment to our cause. Let us remind each other that we are all here to serve. I am confident that all of us stand for truth, fairness, goodwill, the collective benefit of all and to service above self. I am proud to serve as the 57th President of the Rotary Club of Sitiawan and will do my best to serve you well and to facilitate our clubs efforts in Making A Difference to our community. Fellow Rotarians and Friends of Rotary, we as people are diverse and different in many ways. I believe that through all our diversities and differences we all have one thing in common. There is goodness is all of us. It is that seed of goodness in everyone's hearts that moves a person to help, to give and to serve. We all do this in our own individual ways. We come together in various ways, through clubs, societies and NGO's as collectively we are able to accomplish a lot more. Rotary is a platform that we Rotarians use to achieve this goal. Quoting our RI President Ian Riseley- "Rotary is defined not by who we are, but by what we do. However each of us chooses to serve, we do it because we know our service makes a difference in the lives of others" Today I would like to reach out to all of you and appeal to each one of you. Let us join hands and work together. Together let us rise above our individual and collective diversities to come together as One. "E pluribus unum" which in Latin means Out of many, One. Let's us work together as One unit, together towards the collective betterment of our community. In the words of Mother Theresa “ I can do things you cannot. You can do things that I cannot. Together we can do great things." Together, let us do great things for our community. This is our home, it nurtures us and gives us so much. Let us unite in our efforts to give back.
